Now luckily for you when it comes to the future you really can’t be as detailed as you can when it comes to telling a story from the past… What can I say? Apparently I don’t just like gardening, writing happens to be another one of those things I do a decent amount of.
So with growing and raising tons of healthy nutrient dense food for people, and teaching them how they can do the same, being my main passion and purpose in life, I dream of having my own land where I can do all of that to the best of my abilities!
While my more recent goals are to run my very first CSA program successfully in the 2020 growing season, and then taking on a farmers market in 2021, I dream to continue doing that and growing my list of members each year to the point where I can one day purchase the land of my dreams!
I hope to one day have that special place to grow and produce tons of food to feed dozens of families in the community surrounding me! I wish to do that while teaching and inspiring them to grow as much of their own as they can. Now I know some people would be questioning that and thinking that i’d never last long if I did that, but I honestly feel really at peace that it will work out just fine that way. My sense is that unfortunately not everyone will actually go out and grow a good portion of their own food, and not everyone will have the time or even space to do so. These are the people that I feel would hopefully stick around and support me as I grow the food for them being the next best thing to growing it themselves in their own garden. Instead of going straight from their garden to their table it will go from my garden to their table, rather than having to go to the market or the grocery store first. I want them to still have an opportunity and the ability to have a direct relationship with where their food is being grown and how it’s being grown. I feel that society as a whole has eroded down hill really fast in regards to caring about where and how our food is being grown, and how the quality of food has become so pour that it isn’t keeping us healthy! I believe that the best health and even life insurance one could get is just in the form of a garden in their own back yard! Investing in it by simply learning how to grow and raise your own food properly is something I feel most people don’t take as serious as it really is! My goal is to help get people back to the point where they wouldn’t have to always rely on the grocery store having their food. If they cant grow it themselves unfortunately then they still know the farmer and can easily call them up and say “hey Nick, do you have any carrots or broccoli right now?” The goal is to have a strong knit community built around our food and how its grown!
Hi Nick
I just wanted to leave you a word of encouragement. I have a 25 year old son who is moving down a similar career path to you and I’m hoping that Back to Eden would be an encouragement to him. Keep up the good work, I know it gets hard sometimes as I have also struggled with chronic fatigue over the past several years but your work, words and videos bring aa lot of strength and enjoyment to many around the world even down under.
I was also hoping that you would pass on my deepest best regards to Paul for all that he’s done and the way he has communicated with the world the glory of the Lord through his own style of gardening. I’m amazed at how simple gardening can be. I’ve just pulled 3 kilos of plums from a tree planted 1 year ago and was amazed at how the weight of the fruit has pulled those branches down toward the ground, it’s always different seeing it in action.
Take care brothers
God bless and
Kindest regards
David
